Things to do and see
Conwy is a good base from which to visit the beautiful countryside and interesting towns of North Wales.
The 13th Century Castle dominates the town, and the impressive contemporary curtain walls enclose the oldest part of the town, within which the jumble of tiny streets contain a number of interesting smaller shops, cafés & restaurants. The castle is described by CADW, the Welsh Historic Trust as "...by any standards one of the great fortresses of medieval Europe." It is well worth a visit, perhaps as one of a series of visits to the other castles of North Wales.

From the house, you can walk to Conwy mountain, the Sychnant Pass with its Fairy Glen and further inland to Tal y Fan mountain, the Roman road and Snowdonia.
The lovely Victorian resort town of Llandudno is close by, as are the other coastal towns and those of the Conwy valley such as Betws y Coed, Llanrwst and Trefriw.
Snowdonia, its mountains, passes, lakes and beautiful scenery are all within easy reach. Anglesey is also only a short drive away. Its unique scenery is spectacular, interesting and varied, with coves and beaches, rocky headlands and prehistoric remains, as well as seaside villages and craft shops.
