Things to do and see:
Conwy is a good base from which to visit the beautiful countryside and interesting towns of North Wales.
The 13th Century Castle dominates the town, and the impressive contemporary curtain walls enclose the oldest part of the town, within which the jumble of tiny streets contain a number of interesting smaller shops, cafés & restaurants. The castle is described by CADW, the Welsh Historic Trust as "...by any standards one of the great fortresses of medieval Europe." It is well worth a visit, perhaps as one of a series of visits to the other castles of North Wales.

You can leave the car at the house if you want and walk to Conwy mountain, the Sychnant Pass with its Fairy Glen and further inland to Tal y Fan mountain, the Roman road and Snowdonia. Or, just a short drive away, there are small car parks in the Sychnant Pass where you can either just enjoy the view, or walk. Conwy Council promotes a number of paths and trails which they describe on their website:

If you are arriving by train, why not check out the 'Freedom of Wales Flexipass' which entitles you to good value rail & bus fares and lots of very good reductions or discounts on other things like travel on narrow gauge railways and entry to castles and other properties in the care of Cadw or The National Trust. See more by visiting the Flexipass website.
The lovely Victorian resort town of Llandudno is close by, as are the other coastal towns and those of the Conwy valley such as Betws y Coed, Llanrwst and Trefriw. There are some lovely waymarked trails from Trefriw. http://www.melynconsulting.co.uk/trails/Eng_MapsIndex.htm
Snowdonia, its mountains, passes, lakes and beautiful scenery (images of Snowdonia) are all within easy reach. Anglesey is also only a short drive away. Its unique scenery is spectacular, interesting and varied, with coves and beaches, rocky headlands and prehistoric remains, as well as seaside villages and craft shops.
